As the domestic pet market in China becomes increasingly competitive (or "intensifies its internal competition"), expanding overseas has become a new consensus among those in the pet industry. Southeast Asia, in particular, has emerged as one of the most watched overseas destinations at present. While Southeast Asia is evolving into a new growth engine for the global pet industry and harbors boundless business opportunities, issues such as the independent and unsystematic policies and regulations across Southeast Asian countries, the general inadequacy of logistics and infrastructure construction, and cultural differences and religious taboos also pose additional challenges to Chinese pet enterprises seeking to expand into this region.
